A new £20m pound world class teaching centre is set to be built at Teesside University, a news report in the local media can reveal.

Construction company BAM will be in charge of the redevelopment project, which is set to “transform the centre of the University campus offering unrivalled modern, flexible teaching facilities for students with state-of-the-art new and innovative learning spaces and technologies.”

The planned facility will have an impressive BREEAM ‘excellent’ rating and, given its specific nature, the project will also be used as a live example of building information modelling (BIM) for study groups.

Malcolm Page, Teesside University Chief Operating Officer, said: "This is a fantastic new development for the University and represents a significant investment for students, the community and for Middlesbrough and the region. BAM were chosen for this project because of their innovative approach to the project which offered a top class solution to delivering our vision along with a strong emphasis on value for money."
