A contract worth £12.5m for building a new cinema and leisure centre in Stoke-On-Trent’s intu Potteries Shopping Centre has been awarded to Wates Construction, a news report in the local business media has revealed.

The 58,000 sq ft facility will comprise a nine-screen cinema complex operated by Cineworld and will be housed in a new-build extension to the shopping centre, which will become part of a £20m leisure and catering development.

Construction is due for completion by spring 2015, which will be followed by additional refurbishment and fit-out works ahead of scheduled opening in the summer.
