Despite being singled out by MPs as a possible security threat to the UK’s infrastructure, telecom giant Huawei is determined to maintain and extend its presence on the local market, the company opening a huge head office in Reading.

According to a news report on the matter, Huawei unveiled its 140,000 sq ft office complex at 300 South Park Way, Green Park last week, as a part of the company’s commitment to invest £1.3bn into the UK economy over the next five years.

It comes just days after the intelligence and security committee – made up of MPs and peers – warned in a report that the government had failed to put in place adequate security procedures to protect the UK’s critical national infrastructure.

In particular, the committee warned that a 2005 deal between Huawei and BT meant the Chinese business had become “embedded in the heart of the UK’s” key infrastructure.

Quite obviously, given the rather sensitive nature of the commercial activity carried out by any company involved in this specific field, the implementation of a highly-secure access control system throughout a site of this size is certainly a must.

And this is exactly where Access Control UK can put its extensive experience to work.

One of the best solutions we offer customers requiring secure installations is the T340x fingerprint scanner, capable of easily reading the employees’ fingerprints to verify the identity of the smart card holder, providing total peace of mind.

Additionally, the biometric access control scanners are able to work quite well with most standard types of internal and external electronic, magnetic door releases and devices. They can also be combined with standard smart card scanners, enabling users to mix fingerprint reading and non-fingerprint reading access control scanners on the same security network.

Each attempted access on a scanner is logged within the access control software allowing you to view and track employees’ movements across your site. Simple to install, each scanner controller can operate over Ethernet or standard network cabling reducing the number of additional wires needed.
