545 new student apartments are set to be built on behalf of Swansea University by St. Modwen as part of a £50 million deal, bringing the total amount of new student residences to 1,462, a news report in the local media was recently able to reveal.

The new development will also deliver important ancillary facilities for students and staff at the Bay Campus development, including a dedicated sports hall and recreational gym, a flood lit outdoor pitch, a crèche facility and a number of music practice rooms and communal space to support clubs and societies. In addition within this student facing complex there is the provision for a dedicated Students Union facility thereby creating first class amenities for campus users to enjoy.

Rupert Joseland, South Wales’ regional director for St. Modwen, the land owner and partner developer for the Bay Campus said: "The development at the Swansea University Bay Campus is starting to take shape with many of the key buildings now well underway as the project’s first phase gears up to complete next year. This new campus development is a major highlight of St. Modwen’s ongoing 3,500 acre regeneration programme across South Wales and this latest agreement with the University is the next step in the vision to create a world-class educational establishment that will benefit students, staff and the local community for generations to come."

Given the long-term planned use for this facility, implementing a very solid and reliable access control system across the entire site is a must, especially for those specific areas where access should be restricted (teachers-only areas, etc.).

Access Control UK employs a variety of access control technologies in order to create advanced solutions, enable users to exert solid, reliable and accurate control over the access to specific premises or zones.
