Contactless smart cards allow the tracking of employee movements across a premises

A police force is asking for acts of bravery by members of the public during the recent riots to be recognised. The force wants nominations to be put forward to reward the efforts of shopkeepers and residents who helped tackle criminality. A statement from West Midlands Police said: "We have heard a lot of stories where members of the public rallied round to help officers or their own community – very much pulling together at a time of need."
Access Control UK specialise in security devices and systems to protect businesses from criminality. Contactless smart cards or key fobs are used to operate your access control system. Each smart card is assigned to an individual employee and can be affixed with a bespoke label denoting the name and photograph of the employee along with any other details you wish to have printed. Each attempted access on a scanner is logged within the access control software allowing you to view and track employees’ movements across your site.
Various UK police forces have assisted their beleaguered London colleagues in the Metropolitan Police (Met), who admitted they did not have enough officers to cope with the recent days of rioting. Hundreds of officers from Scotland were pressed into service south of the border, while police from surrounding counties like Beds, Herts, Essex and Suffolk had officers on standby or helping. Both South Wales Police and Dyfed-Powys Police, who added it has been contacted by the Met, said as the riots were taking place their deployment would be reviewed. 
Bringing in the Army to help police tackle the recent unrest which has struck many city centres has been ruled out. Looters smashed their way into shops before being dispersed by police. Acting Met Commissioner Tim Godwin said: "We will be out there in ever greater numbers tonight." On Twitter, Scotland Yard said: "In the next 24 hours there will be 13,000 police officers on duty in London." Police cars were smashed by youths armed with wooden poles and metal bars. 
Police have paid tribute to local businesses and the role of street pastors to lower crime figures even further in a city centre. As well as praising retailers for a fall in anti-social behaviour by 35% in Aberdeen, Grampian Police acknowledged the support “from the city council… through the taxi marshals and of course we are complemented greatly by the sterling efforts of our street pastors, which is one of the largest programmes of its kind in the United Kingdom."
A spokeswoman said police have a policy of zero tolerance towards metal thefts after another church was damaged while its lead was taken. Alexa Collicott, of Gloucestershire Constabulary, said thieves had stripped two square metres of lead sheeting from the property overnight on July 13. "Metals are currently a very valuable commodity and buildings such as churches have been targeted," she said, adding: "Police take these crimes very seriously – it can cost thousands of pounds for replacement or repair."
Police are trying to track down almost £1,000 of computer equipment was stolen from a parked lorry. The vehicle was stationary in Falkirk, Scotland, when the printer cartridges were taken. The products were destined for the Italian market and officers stated that they may have Italian writing on the site if anyone is offered the products for sale they are asked to contact their local police station.
Police and a fire investigation officer attended the site of a supermarket fire which is being treated by the authorities as arson. The blaze affected the vicinity of the store in King’s Lynn, in Norfolk, after two nearby sheds caught fire. Three crews from the town were called, as well as a crew from a neighbouring village and police. A fire service spokesman said the fire threatened to spread to the supermarket and was put out in just under two hours.
