The UK Government has announced that the furlough scheme, that has been in place since March 2020, will be ending. The scheme was put in place to help companies financially throughout the Coronavirus pandemic and has been a critical lifeline for many. Otherwise known as the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, Furlough has been gradually reduced by the Government to ease companies and employees back into full-time work. July 2021 saw the support percentage drop from 80% to 70%, while August and September will see the figure drop to 60%.
It has been announced that the financial support scheme will come to a complete stop on 30th September 2021. This puts huge pressure on employers to not only be able to afford to pay staff wages and other expenses but to also cope with the HR matters that come with a full office.
