Plans put forward for redeveloping the site of an old, run-down car park have been approved by the local authority in Wimbledon, opening the way for its redevelopment into a new six storey building, a recent news report in the local media has been able to reveal.

The site is located at a run-down car park at the junction of Milner Road and Morden Road and the residential project set to be built after the current site is prepared will comprise of fifteen apartments, three townhouses and a commercial unit at street level.

The building, designed by architects Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios (FCB studios), will be developed using CLT (Cross Laminated Timber).

The architectural firm said the design had to incorporate lightweight construction materials due to a London Underground tunnel located directly under the site.

Development is due to start on site later this year with completion due by mid 2017.
