New five-storey mixed-use centre set to be built in Cambridge
A new five-storey, mixed-use centre with an estimated total value of £10 million is set to be built at the new Clay Farm development in Cambridge, a recent news report in the local media has been able to reveal.
The building will provide a range of public services for local residents, including a medical centre, library, community rooms and 20 flats. The community facility incorporates high specification building materials, with roof-mounted photo voltaic cells to generate electricity and a green roof area to absorb CO2 and reduce the effects of surface run off.
At ground floor level of the concrete frame structure, ISG will create a spacious and light reception area, leading into the lower level of the two-storey library, a café and social space. A large double-height multi-use hall and a smaller community room are also located on this level, along with offices and a secure internal bicycle storage area.
Library facilities continue on the building’s first floor, with a balconied area providing flexible space, alongside meeting rooms and a touchdown area for non-office based public service staff. The second floor medical centre incorporates nine consulting rooms and a minor operations treatment centre.
Facilities also include consulting space, treatment rooms, a series of meeting rooms and specialist medical library. The upper two levels provide accommodation for 20 affordable flats, in one and two bed configurations – each with an external balcony.
