Parcel delivery giant DPD has been granted permission to build a brand-new £100m parcel hub at Hinckley Commercial Park in Leicestershire, a move that should lead to the creation of no less than 1000 new jobs.

According to a news report on the matter, the company has received permission from the Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council to develop its new £100m hub on the 33-acre site, with work being set to start at some point in late August. If everything goes according to plans, the facility is expected to be fully operational by 2015, and should be able to handle 70,000 parcels an hour.

Chief executive Dwain McDonald said: "This is another important step forward for the company and also for the region and our customers. We are a company that is growing fast and investing the proceeds back into our infrastructure to keep on improving our service."

Quite obviously, such an extensive development, will also require the implementation of a very solid access control solution.

This is exactly where Access Control UK will manage to put its expertise to good work, given the fact that we offer an extensive level of experience in designing and delivering reliable, secure and affordable high-spec solutions.

The flagship offering in our extensive lineup is represented by the Access Lite.NET/Enterprise.NET systems, capable of providing from one access control point to a multi-site network of scanners and clocks.

The systems are easily operated by contactless smart cards, which means that access is granted / denied instantly. Furthermore, the systems can also work with physical security devices and have no limits in terms of the number of employees registered.

Additional extra features worth mentioning include two-factor authentication through biometrics, as well as the fast and easy integration with other systems.
